After finding and logging a Trackable, do i need to log where i have placed it

Yes, for every trackable we should do two logs... one when we Retrieve it from a cache and another when we Drop the trackable on another cache.

You may also log Discovered if you leave the trackable where you find it, without taking it with you.

Curious, since it's been a while, have you looked at Geocaching 101 for any changes maybe made to the hobby ?   

There is a basic info section on how to log a trackable there.

For further helpful info on Trackables, there's always the Help Center.
