+BronxBombers Posted August 8, 2003 Posted August 8, 2003 I have been waiting nearly 2 full days for my caches to be approved. Sorry if I'm being impatient. Dont mean to! Usually they are approved in a day or so. Are you ok, Crow? Quote
+Renegade Knight Posted August 8, 2003 Posted August 8, 2003 It can take a week. Have patience. Quote
+BronxBombers Posted August 9, 2003 Author Posted August 9, 2003 Sorry if I appear impatient. Please forgive me! Quote
+Crow T Robot Posted August 9, 2003 Posted August 9, 2003 I guess I've spoiled everyone with my lightning-fast responses! I was out of town for 2 days and the other approvers left the Florida caches until my return. Things are back to normal and I promise I'll never go away again. Quote
solohiker Posted August 9, 2003 Posted August 9, 2003 Get in line. I have been waiting a week to gain cache approval in Arkansas :-( Quote
+Doc-Dean Posted August 9, 2003 Posted August 9, 2003 How about approving them before I even think of them?? Now that's fast!! --------------------------------------------------- Free your mind and the rest will follow Quote
solohiker Posted August 13, 2003 Posted August 13, 2003 Based upon the comments in the thread below it is reasonable to conclude that delays in approvals may be based upon the personal bias of the approver. http://ubbx.Groundspeak.com/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=5726007311&f=4016058331&m=30460177 I have said it before and I will say it again.. Just run your idea past an approver while you're still formulating it and before you submit it. We'll be happy to give you a tacit approval, and/or work with you to make it fit the guidelines. Then e-mail us with the URL and a reminder of the earlier discussion when you do submit the cache. That's almost approving it before you think of it. erik - geocaching.com admin "I'm glad this hobby isn't run like a business or I'd have to punch out at 5:00 and leave the customers hanging....." +The Gowen Family Posted August 14, 2003 Posted August 14, 2003 This might be off the topic but... How do we know who are the approvers for our areas? Quote
solohiker Posted August 14, 2003 Posted August 14, 2003 The approver and a link to his email are listed on every cache page, bottom left. All of the stooges post to the forums and most of them will make snide comments like eric's above. If the admin group posts personal comments like eric, what could possibly be considered off topic? omniterranaut Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 Don't feel like your the only one waiting. The fastest cache I've ever had approved was 57 hours. The longest was something like 27 days even though there was never anything controversial about it. omni??terra??naut '?m-ni-ter-uh-not : n. all terrain explorer; around the world traveler. abriev: OTN Quote
the federation Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 As one of the more active cachers in Florida I can tell you I have had little problem getting caches approved in Florida Before Crow or After Crow. As for Eric's comments I have appreciated the oppurtunities I have had to discuss cache with both admins and have ran ideas before placing caches with them both. Some have been approved and some have been denied. , but I always know before hand if the cache is or could be controversial what the thinking is before hand. Do I think the system could be better? Yes I do but on the other hand I think it is best to work with those that are making decisions rather than slam them and then complain about not getting your caches approved. HMMMMMMM seem my old mother told me once You catch more flys with honey than vinegar, new translation you catch more mosquioes with blood than deet. What say you all let's just find a way to work together. boldly going where others have gone before Quote
bookworm1 Posted August 16, 2003 Posted August 16, 2003 Amen to the Federations Comments. The approvers are volunteers who do the best they can. I for one appreciate them Ive had one disaproval and I knew it was shaky when i submitted it. When it didnt show up in 3or 4 days I reworded it and resubmitted and there it was. Thanks to Honeychile, NC Caches seem to approved without much problems and those that arnt seem to know why. As for Eric I think he was trying to make light of a comment and not make a snide remark. This is a fun sport not a combat arena so lets have fun and cache. Quote
+GoJoey&GoPollyanna Posted August 16, 2003 Posted August 16, 2003 A Thousand Pardons:::::: The previous log was written by GoJoey I didnt realize that Bookworm1(the wife) was logged in. So I quickly loged her out and me in and I take full resposobility for the privious remark. A CACHE A DAY KEEPS THE BLUES AWAY Quote
+Ltljon Posted August 16, 2003 Posted August 16, 2003 Mine have usually been approved in a few hours. *****in' about the speed of the approvers is like *****in' at the Volunteer Fire Dept. Seem's like a thankless job that I'm glad I don't have. Your mileage may vary... Quote
