+Atlas Cached 198 Posted Wednesday at 11:33 AM No, Garmin GPSr do not support unique icons for any cache types created in the past 10+ years... They are still stuck in the mid 2000's.... The caches can be loaded, but will appear with generic geocache icon. Quote Share this post Link to post

+Atlas Cached 198 Posted Wednesday at 01:36 PM (edited) The 'Mega Event' Icon is from 2006, and the 'Giga Event' from 2014. Edited Wednesday at 01:38 PM by Atlas Cached Quote Share this post Link to post
+Mineral2 308 Posted Wednesday at 03:34 PM Giga events are so rare it doesn't really make sense to invest the resources to add another cache type and push that out to all of the GPS models. (though I'm sure adding it is trivial work) It's likely that you're not navigating to a Giga event via your handheld GPS either, so simply showing up and logging your attendance on your phone will suffice if you don't want to wait and log it later from your computer. Lab caches aren't meant to be loaded onto a GPS and must be completed using the Adventure Lab app. There's zero incentive for Garmin or Groundspeak to create a cache icon and type for Garmin GPS users when you can't officially load them to the GPS. You can install your own custom waypoints and make a custom icon and assign it yourself. But they will not and never will function as geocaches. Quote Share this post Link to post
