+Max and 99
Join us and REI to #OptOutside For many of us, 2020 did not look the way we imagined. We each had challenges to overcome this year as our realities changed. Geocaching offered us a way to escape into nature and reset our perspectives. As we opted to spend more time outside, we realized that nature has a unique way to heal us all. When things felt uncertain we could count on venturing outside, feeling the solid ground beneath our shoes, breathing in the fresh air of the great outdoors, and holding our GPS or phone in hand as we headed out to participate in the world’s largest treasure hunt. This year we invite you to give yourself some space and join us and REI to #OptOutside on Black Friday. Outside is where we feel connected to our amazing planet and all it has to offer. It’s where we can feel a sense of wonder, peace, adventure, and appreciation for what we have. In the outdoors we feel connected to our fellow humans as all being a part of this world. When you get outside on November 27, let geocaching take you to explore somewhere wonderful in your local community you would have never known about. Remember to always #RecreateResponsibly as you plan ahead to keep yourself and others safe. Don’t be afraid to take it slow and enjoy the healing power of nature as you hunt for that elusive geocache. Quote Link to comment
+Max and 99
I love this blog post. This is how I plan to enjoy Black Friday. Relaxing. 1 Quote Link to comment
+cerberus1
REI has had that a few years now (we're members). When the other 2/3rds cached, if she wasn't standing in front of Cabela's at four in the morning, black Friday was the start of our Hallmark ornaments in reg/large caches tradition. Otherwise, we'd do one on Thanksgiving day. Quote Link to comment
+GeoElmo6000
My friend has been hosting a "Black Friday is for Being Outside" event every Black Friday for many years. This may be his 8th event, and he's using his Community Celebration Event for this one. https://coord.info/GC8M98K 2 Quote Link to comment

I wonder how that additional artwork is placed over the needed part of the cache page? Quote Link to comment

There's absolutely nothing about special government rules against people doing what people do. There's boilerplate that's a curse on event pages (what precious few there are) in my area. On-topic, maybe I'll send some emails and organize a hike for this Friday. (We've been drifting to email for organizing; no two-week rule...) I believe in the HTML description, it comes from this line: <img title="CCE" src="https://s3.amazonaws.com/gs-geo-images/09913948-551a-4cf0-85d5-0531bd35e010.png" border="0" align="right" style="position:relative;top:-458px;right:+36px;z-index:1;"> Quote Link to comment

I was referring to the image that covers the cache area & distance from my location - as shown in the screen grab. Otherwise I would have clipped the bit you referenced, which is likely needed to get the cache published in the current times. Quote Link to comment

The only issue with that is that it really only plays well on the browser view of the listing. Any other platform that displays the listing as html may have a dramatically different appearance Quote Link to comment
