Aloha! & Wahine Eye Spy
Aloha All! We’ve done a bit of online searching through the forums but are coming up with a DNF. (Sniff) we’re looking for information, preferably a bookmarked listing, of all the CAAs. If anyone can either direct us to such a list or topic we would appreciate it. In the meantime, stay well, wear a mask when necessary and happy hunting! Aloha! Edited October 5, 2020 by Aloha! & Wahine Eye Spy Quote Link to comment
Aloha! & Wahine Eye Spy
Oh my! Silly us! We just located a pocket query of our own with a link to a bookmarked link! Silly silly us! We see large numbers of them archived. Always a pity. Though we do have a query available, always happy to hear your thoughts. Particularly if anyone knows of a series replacing this one. Now that we’re retired and traveling as much statewide as we used to do internationally we’d love to fulfill a challenge as such. We’re on our way to Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana soon. Gotta love travel and caching! Aloha! Edited October 5, 2020 by Aloha! & Wahine Eye Spy 1 Quote Link to comment
coachstahly
What, besides the CAA cache in northern IN, are you interested in possibly finding? The CAA in Warsaw is the second version of the cache I know of since I started in 2010. Quote Link to comment
Aloha! & Wahine Eye Spy
Aloha Coachstahly! Thanks for taking the time to respond. Much like the CAA series, we’re looking for a series across the country that consists of at least one particular/specified cache in each state. Something different to strive for if you will. Our old pocket query will display a list of all the CAA caches and shows two CAA caches in Indiana with both being archived. Maybe we have a link to an old listing? Should you happen to know of any “don’t miss” caches or series we’re happy to hear of them. Always! Quote Link to comment
The Jester
When we retired 5 years ago and started traveling the USA in a trailer, one of our goals was the oldest cache in each state. It took a couple of years and a few trips (partially because we DNF'd Vermont's the first try) but we've completed the Lower 48 and about half of Canada. It made for some interesting routing choices, but was a lot of fun. Some do require a bit of a hike (Arizona & W. Virginia for a couple). 1 Quote Link to comment

Aloha! & Wahine Eye Spy
The Jester: that’s an excellent idea! As a matter of fact, as soon as the craziness of the times and people stop scarfing up RVS, trailers and motor homes we’ll be picking up our new truck and trailer. We still love international travel but while it’s on the taboo list there’s a whole big beautiful country at our door step. National park checklist and passport in hand. You may have just added another element. Thanks for that! Quote Link to comment
Aloha! & Wahine Eye Spy
J L_HSTRE: thank you for the listing. That is so very different from my current. Happy to have and use it. Thank you again! Quote Link to comment
coachstahly
You're only about 30-45 minutes away from the oldest in Indiana (if you do the CAA in Warsaw), Indiana's First. Straight shot up 15 to 33 into Elkhart. Lots of stoplights once you get onto 33, which is why there's a wide variation in time. The cache itself isn't really much to write home about and it appears that the ammo can I found in 2010 or 2011was MIA but apparently replaced this summer with a pill bottle and then replaced once again with an ammo can. It's OK. https://coord.info/GC93 Although it's in the bookmark list provided above, here's the individual link for the CAA cache. https://coord.info/GC6HCCW Here's the link for the version I found first, in case you were curious. https://coord.info/GC1M5BE This one, https://coord.info/GC543V7, is about 15-20 minutes NE of CAA, on Lake Webster. I found it when it was "younger" but it's been upgraded since I found it and seems to get lots of visits. This, https://coord.info/GCKTG1, is the oldest EC in the state but it's based on a sign, so not quite as informative as the newer ones. It's about 5 minutes due north on SR 13 from the cache above. This virtual, https://coord.info/GCHR2P, is about 10 minutes west (and a bit south of CAA). These are the only ones I can really recommend. There are a lot of caches up in that area of the state but not a lot of really memorable ones (or at least ones I've found that I can recall were somewhat memorable). Even the other virtuals up there are just OK. I don't know which direction you'd be coming from (from Lousville perhaps?) so can't really offer many recommendations beyond what's in the area of the CAA cache. Quote Link to comment
Aloha! & Wahine Eye Spy
Thank you ever so much for the information. All are in the process of being plugged into the road trip plans as we speak. We’re thinking you’ve just added even more fun to an already festive looking trip. Thanks bunches! Aloha! +hzoi
I have only found three of these over the last 13 years, the last of which was 6 years ago, so I've not been going out of my way. But the fake coordinates for the final are now only a couple miles from my office. Maybe I should start back up again... Quote Link to comment
