How do I find the "geocacher ID" these days?

Hi all, 

In the "old" days the geocacher's numeric ID by visiting their profile, and the ID was in the URL (address). But these days the URL is full of hex code; no numeric ID that I can find. 

Any ideas how to find the old Geocacher number?  I know I used mine in GSAK, but I found it the old way. 

I need the IDs of other geocachers for a puzzle cache I'm working on (solving).  Thanks!

If you hover over the "View forum posts" link on the profile, you can see the user ID in the URL (even if they have never posted in the forums).

Hello!  I see you are User ID #41453.  The "hover" method worked just fine for me.  Could you describe where you're hovering, and what you're seeing in the URL indicator that pops up, so that we can help ease your frustration?

I was told to go to their forum page and hover over their name, done that, nothing 

OK maybe this is what I need https://forums.geocaching.com/GC/index.php?/profile/119145-Geo-Sarge/content/, so his number is 119145?

It works for me on a Mac using Chrome. The ID number appears in the URL that is shown at the bottom of the window:

I find that on my Mac, this works in Chrome but not in Safari.

It doesn't work for me on the Avast browser, so I tried firefox. It still didn't work. Oh well, not something I can imagining needing.

I just tried it and when the little window opened  I had to hover over the name in the window then it opened. Hope that makes sense.

Hello, User ID #19799699.  The method still works fine, so not sure why you concluded it "is not relevant anymore."

If you can't see it on hover, you can click the link instead and look in the URL of the resulting page for the ID number. It is the number that appears after "profile/" and before the dash.

Or right click and copy the link (instead of navigating to it), then paste it somewhere you can copy out the ID number.

I'm a Mac and use Safari all the time, and 'usually' the hover method works just fine like Moun10Bike says, to know the geocacher's account ID.

NanCycle profile shows https://forums.geocaching.com/GC/index.php?/profile/286111-NanCycle/content/, where 286111 is the Account ID or 'mid'.

Mine is 2826133 from "View forum posts" link on my profile  https://forums.geocaching.com/GC/index.php?/profile/2826133-Dr.MORO/content/

 

HOWEVER, if I check Moun10Bike's own Profile page, the "View forum posts" link is https://forums.geocaching.com/GC/index.php?/profile/24-Moun10Bike/content/ , which surprisingly does NOT contain the Account ID number. Interesting, isn't it?

 

In any case, nothing wrong with Mac Safari usage, and it should work just like any other web browser.

One thing I can think of with Safari, is that in the "View" menu, one should turn on/check 'Show Status Bar', so that you can easily see in the lower-left corner of your Safari web page window, the link you mouse is hovering over in full text within a black banner. Copy the link to any text editor or email message, and paste it to extract the Account ID number, for whatever reason you would need it, like solving a puzzle cache.

A deleted test account   (and is now used as a placeholder for all deleted accounts)! Jeremy's admin account ("iryshe") is #2 and Jeremy's regular account is #3. The account of the first person to find the original stash, Mike Teague, is #4.
