+North Star Seekers 0 Posted September 28, 2020 I'm fairly new to caching. I recently bought a Garmin 64st and would like to be able to wirelessly send cache data from my iphone to the GPS. Is this possible? My understanding is that the GPS is bluetooth capable, but I can't figure out what I need to do on my iphone to send the data. Before I make myself crazy (okay, I already have), is this even possible? And if so, what do I need to do? Any assistance is much appreciated. Quote Share this post Link to post
+ecanderson 586 Posted September 28, 2020 Only certain Garmin units (e.g., Oregon 700) support "Geocaching Live" over their BT interface. I don't believe the 64st is one of them, but a 64 owner may say they've found otherwise. There's a phone app (Garmin Connect Mobile) that links the phone to the unit. For whatever your unit CAN do, you'll want that. I do know that the 64st supports notifications received on the phone to be sent to your unit via that app. Quote Share this post Link to post
+North Star Seekers 0 Posted September 29, 2020 I do have the Garmin Connect app, and my phone is synced with the GPS. According to Garmin, this model can "Share your waypoints, tracks, routes and geocaches wirelessly with other compatible devices." I assumed that my phone was a compatible device, but maybe they mean other GPS units? Quote Share this post Link to post
+ecanderson 586 Posted September 29, 2020 Yes, that's what they mean... other Garmin units. However, if you look more carefully at the configuration of the Garmin Connect app, it is capable of sending some other notification information to your 64 device as well. I haven't read the docs on the 64 to see how clear they are in this regard, but fiddling with the Connect app configuration should show you the options relevant to your phone and the 64.
