This is to find out if there are others here from Tennessee. About thei time I am ready to find my first cache. The States Closes some of the State Parks that have some of the closer parks.

m going down there later this week to talk to the ranger to see what the situation is about whether or not the park is expected to re-open soon. I MAY have to just remove my container and archive the page. It kinda sucks 'cause it was just now starting to get some visitors AND the only reason I hid it there in the first place was to encourage caching in middle Tennessee.

Sorta sad that my first find was maybe the last one for your Burgess Falls Cache. I couldn't believe how my heart was pounding when I spotted it. I live in Crossville and am trying to find the time for a day trip this weekend in the Nashville direction and try to hit all of the Caches between here and Nashville or as far as I can get. May have to invest in hiking shoes, I about killed myself in my street shoes in Burgess Falls.

I'm a geocacher from Old Hickory, Tennessee. Not too far away from you in LaVergne. I've only found three so far but I don't consider myself a rookie anymore. We have several hidden around Nashville and as this game gets more and more popular, I expect that there will be many more hidden around town. I plan to hide one of my own soon. But in the mean time I'm having a blast finding them. We need to try to get the word out to all our friends and families about this game so that more and more people will be playing along with us. That will only make it more fun and provide more caches for us to find. Happy hunting to you all.

Mike...

Nashville is really the only choice for folks in our area to visit multiple caches in one day. The best one down there is probably Skunk Hollow You gotta do a bit of walking to get to it and the scenery is nice. Another good one is Bug Juice of the Mossy Field in Cedars of Lebanon State Park. Most of the others are "drive by" caches. (You can drive ALMOST to them and be back in your car in 15 or 20 minutes.)

There's a cache that I really enjoyed just down I-40 from you in Kingston. The only "problem" is that ya gotta have a boat to get to it. (I used my OldTown 158 canoe) It's called Paint Rock Intruder. I'm the ONLY one to have logged the cache and that was way back on 6/2.

I'm gonna visit your cache this weekend and will soon be hiding some more in the Jamestown/Crossville/Cookeville area since there are FINALLY some others around to hunt them.

maybe I'll see you soon....

Well it is great to hear so many are really into this. I have not looked for a cache in TN yet. Was in Louisiana over the weekend and tried to find one. But had too much rain. Hoping to get time this weekend to hit a few. And I may have to borrow a boat to try to paint rock.

I'm in Tullahoma (halfway between Nashville and Chattanooga). I'm new to the sport---learned about it through an article in the Tennessean. I went on my first hunts in Nebraska last weekend and had a blast. I've been reading about some caches in Middle Tennessee and N. Alabama which I'm looking forward to searching for.

I haven't found anything closer than Cedars of Lebanon park yet....haven't been to look for it yet, just been planning. If you put one out at Tim's Ford, I'll hunt it. I want to get a few more finds logged before I hide one. I'm still working on my GPS competency.:-)

It will not be underwater. I was thinking on one of those islands out on the lake. Sure you know of someone that could take you out on the boat one day. I thought everybody from Tullahoma had a boat.

I am from the Nashville area and just found two caches as of late. I have just started into Geocaching but am an avid mtn. biker, kayaker, hiker, photographer, and scuba diver. Geocaching fits in wonderfully with all of my other outdoor hobbies. I am planning to make a run through of the rest of the Nashville one's next week.

My wifes parents live in Cookeville, Tn so I will probably hit the Center Hill, Crossville, and if the Burgess Falls park is open? I will hit that one on Sunday when we go down for dinner. Geocaching is an excuse to escape the inlaws. icon_smile.gif

My wife and I are avid Kayakers so we will probably hit the Paint Rock one in conjuction with a paddling trip toward the eastern side of the state.

Seems to be a lot of caching going on!! Wohoo!!

Sorry Jim, but I went down to Cookeville on saturday (9/8) and removed my cache. The gates are locked and I had to beg permission from the ranger to even enter.

If some miracle occurs and funding is restored, I'll place my cache back in it's original location but until then, no cache & no Burgess Falls.....

What is going on with this Shutting our parks down? Seems our governor has targeted all the counties that have representatives in them that voted against his State Income tax. This is very bad. How many more years have we got with this Moron as governor. Does anyone feel the same? Sorry this is off the geocaching topic but actually it is affecting it because we can not get to some of the caches.. haha..

Hey guys I put a new cache out in the Pennington Bend area of Nashville. They haven't approved the cache as of yet so it should be up shortly. Hope you guys have fun finding it.

Update on park closing: As of yesterday, the feds told the governor that he cannot shut down any state parks! It seems that a condition of receiving some federal funds for the parks, the state is required to keep them open. So I guess the legislature is just gonna have to quit worrying about re-election odds and do the job they were elected to do...

And GISGPSMan....not "everyone" in Tullahoma has a boat...but of course I do have a few friends who have boats. :-)

Yee haw! Nice to hear the troops rally here in Tennessee. Be lookin for the 150 foot bounce off the Cumberland Trail in a couple of weeks near Chattanooga "Home of the Choo Choo".

Wohoo...so when do the parks open back up? Looks like the Burgess Falls cache or as I like to call it..."escape from the inlaws" may make a return?

By the way snagged the Cumberland River cache near Lock two...very cool and the coords are right on the money...it was like a seven ft. difference or something...just perfect.

it to place it. I can get under a foot accuracy with that thing. So that would be about right. Cachers will only be limited to the inaccuracy of their handeheld units with this cache. Which just may make it a little easier to find. Thanks for finding it. I hope someone puts a camera in it so that cacher's can take a picture of themselves with the glasses on. Take it easy.

I just wanted to make our Folder Flame by having 25 messages. But I can say this to the geocacher in Nolensville. Why don't you set one out down there in that area. I know there area would probably get a good response being so close to Nashville, Murfreesboro, and Franklin.

Hey... you put out a cache out around Nolesville and I will be there.... LaVergne does not have that many in the area....

I think I have Cached the first Travel Bug in Tennessee. It's on a little Hitchiker named Smokey_1 and is in GoBigOrange_II. (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=7488) No big deal I guess but if I'm the first to accomplish something it has to be worth something.
