Free premium New User??

So I'm new to this and was wondering if it's possible to get a free premium membership for the 1month?? If so how? Thanks?

There used to be a 30 day starter premium offered when purchasing a Garmin device, but that was discontinued.  Now it's $30 any way you cut it.  Perhaps you can get a friend to sponsor one for you?

The Help Center article Redeem a gift membership includes a section "30-day free membership with GPS device", but Garmin trials are no longer supported.

Premium membership trials are now available (for users who have not previously had Premium) by contacting Geocaching HQ via the Help Center.

Unless it's been changed, like RuideAlmeida says, you can request a free temporary pm by emailing HQ.

IIRC, it's now a week,  not a month, so be sure it's when you have the time.

In the meantime, maybe it'd be a good idea to find a few simpler caches now, so you might have an idea what your interest may be when you get that pm.

Just don't use the official app but search for the caches via website.

 

As "normal" member you'll be fine finding many caches of all types and you will be able to see if it's a good hobby for you or not. If it's not don't mind: there are other hobbies to do! If so you might want to become PM someday - or not.

Until then you'll be able to have many geocaching experiences as "normal" user. I wasn't premium the first years and had no problems at all. Nowadays I am PM just as it is comfortable - but not necessary (espaecially in the beginning).

 

Only the app is unusable as non premium member - but there are alternatives!

 

Just have fun finding caches, logging them (give the owners feedback) and perhaps hide one on your own. You're not a lesser caches as you are not "premium". :-)
