+MJ_GG_Allin
A pretty prolific cacher in my area, Irish Kidz , hasn't logged in for quite some time and a number of his/her caches are in dire need of upkeep or have disappeared. What can cachers do when this happens? Thanks. Quote Link to comment

Darwin473
AFAIK the "correct" action is to log a few NM (Needs Maintenance) reports on the cache, and if the caches degrade far enough, an NA (Needs Archive). After the caches are archived, someone else can place new caches there, either "inspired by" (read: copied) from the cache that was there previously or something new. What often tends to happen is that the community will do some ongoing "helping hand" maintenance, by updating / replacing the log sheets and sometimes replacing the container. Both ways can be good and bad, depending on the situation. If the CO has just stopped playing, gotten caught up with something, fallen ill or passed away then the caches can't be adopted as both the account giving up the cache and the account receiving the cache need to do their bits for an adoption to happen. 1 Quote Link to comment

What can cachers do when this happens? The link from niraD is the preferred action. Sometimes there's an issue with new finders not finding a cache, and for some odd reason go directly to NA. - One has been given a "replacement" from someone other than the owner, found often, then outta the blue someone with one find places a NA. A few had the full/wet logs "replaced" by another, and now "found" again. That red wrench needs the CO to remove it. Local Reviewer TD one, with no reply yet... I'd say since the Reviewer's already aware of the problems with these, just log NM if there's an issue when you look for them. Quote Link to comment
