Dartmoore granite

I have a proposal to make. In order for WMs to be accessible to the entire planet (remembering what was said in another forum that there are hundreds of categories in the USA), can the dartmoore granite category be adapted to all areas of the world that have granite? Galicia is an important area, producer of this stone and with landscapes of it.

Reading the category description, local waymarkers were quite proud of the granite which came from Dartmoor in England.  It was one of the first chances for waymarkers outside of North America to get excited about their own local subjects.   Examples from this category might be located anywhere in the world that Dartmoor granite was used to construct something.  Expanding the category to entire-planet granite would fail as a category because waymarks would be too common.

If it's not Dartmoore granit, you can publish in Rock and Minerals displays category

That's a somewhat limited category, Thierry. It doesn't accept just any old rock or encounters of rock in the countryside. Locations of displays accepted are somewhat limited, as well. Guess we'll have to wait for Ariberna to tell us more specifically just what she has in mind.

"educational and informative" is yet another requirement of the category, a requirement which many Waymarkers find difficult to achieve, if the contents of my review queues are any indication.

Absoluely - Missouri has an outstanding quality of red granite used throughout the Midwest.  No, Dartmoor granite isn't going to be expanded as it would completely destroy the  category.

Thanks. There are a lot of cathegories very difficult and specific of one place. For example one tipe of libraries, granite onlu for darmoor, etc

Why? what is the important subject from this granite there and no important galician granit?.

This category was created back in September of 2006.  Back in the day, categories were approved by Groundspeak without going through Peer Review first, and without guidelines.  They wanted to get Waymarking up and running as another part of their portfolio.  This is why there is a proliferation of very regional categories that would never be approved today.  Aficionados of Galician Granite, much like Missouri Red Granite, lost out by not getting their categories put in back in 2006.  At some point, peer review came in so that Groundspeak could devote fewer resources to Waymarking.   If you can find a DeLorean and a flux capacitor, well...  LOL   :D  I jest.  I would give a VERY tiny chance of getting any kind of other kind of granite approved with Peer Review.
