sjj530
There is a local hill where I'd like to place a geocache. I think I've got a good hide -- a stub branch with a plastic tube glued to it. I know I can't drill into or attach hardware to a living tree, but what about a dead one? There are a lot of fallen logs ands stumps in this area. Or would I be violating the rules? Thanks! +cerberus1
Does the property belong to you ? The person who gave you permission for your placement would be the one to ask. Quote Link to comment
+ecanderson
Dead trees have always been fair game per reviewers around my part of the world, and we've seen a few like yours. Properly done, they can be pretty wicked to find. Quote Link to comment
+NanCycle
Standing dead trees may be a gray area , but stumps and fallen logs are commonly used. Quote Link to comment
+barefootjeff
Or you can just do what I've done with a couple of mine and provided my own log. That way I can treat it beforehand to prevent it from rotting (this one I baked in the oven then coated it with a oil-based sealer) and, when the time comes to archive it, I can just take it away and leave the environment the same as it was before the cache was placed. 2 1 Quote Link to comment
