This tread looks like a roadtrip with little children. "Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet........."

I think it's more like a house with little children the week before Christmas. Even the adults are getting excited even though they're not saying anything.

Can‘t help but wonder what‘s going on... there are some pictures of what appears to be a cover plate from the bottom of the rover lying on the ground. Then there are some pictures of the opening in the bottom, with the interior of the rover exposed... doesn‘t look right to me. Or is that plate supposed to come off?

I've wondered about that, too, but on NASA's https://mars.nasa.gov/mars2020/spacecraft/rover/body/ it says:

Quote

Structure: (...) bottom is the belly pan. Note that for new Sampling and Caching interior workspace, the belly pan in that front end of the rover (about first 1 1/2 feet from front end) is dropped soon after the rover lands. This exposes the workspace to Martian atmosphere and makes more room for sample handling operations within that workspace.

So, it appears to me to be part of the plan.

While waiting, I found something on one of the large panorama pictures. could that be a petrified tree trunk?

Is there an ammo box behind it?

It might just be a film container in the woodpecker's hole...

...pity, no room for swag.

...left: belly pan & trackable, took: some rocks.

Plus, why is the name CITO when there are no caches there? CITO means Cache In Trash Out.

Cache from Geocaching... the whole activity. CITO is not confined to Events... we should do Trash Out whenever we Geocaching (In). ;)

Yeah, but the name is CACHE IN Trash Out. There are no caches on Mars so what does the “Cache In” part have to do with it?

Considering that there have been 16 landings (some less successful than others), it’ll be pretty big CITO event. Might need a few boxes of contractor-size garbage bags.

Yes, it would be.

There are 16656 users watching the listing... this is how many geocachers love to sort through their mail!

Removing 1 word that makes the sentence not make sense.

Ok. I also did it on GC8NEAT but I forgot all about Turing it off LOL! I was mad because I had Emails from the day before about it, but forgot that all the people on the other side of the world were logging it. I was REALLY happy sorting the mail that morning...

March 15, 2021.   Still locked.   I haven't seen any logs.  Lots of watches, including mine   Status?

First off, it is the 14th. I don’t know why it is taking sooooooo... long. We are waiting for a collaboration any second now. People are watching just in case Geocaching HQ posts something on the page of it and they will be up to date but they Better be ready to sort through their Email when it opens up. I hope this answers your questions, Sakidoo.

In this part of the world it's mid afternoon on the 15th. Not everyone lives in the USA.

I agree but Sakidoo live in Ontario, Canada and there are still 20 min left on March 14th over there. Hello from March 15th in Eastern Canada.

Groundspeak, please unlock the TB, I’m really afraid many people will get nuts if they have to wait one more day.

You don't want to send +16000 of your users to a psychiatric hospital.

Ok, but you have to go by the time that Geocaching HQ is at while talking about this stuff. Geocaching HQ is in Seattle (Pacific Time).

BTW, is there any reason to be so anxious for the TB to be unlocked? Is it going to be unlocked for a short while only? Is something terrible going to happen should people wait a few days/weeks after the unlocking to log it?

You’re a real fun sponge! ?  The Christmas presents would still be under the Christmas tree for days after 25 December, but most of us kids want to open them on Christmas morning. ? (Local customs may vary.)  Same with Easter eggs.  Same with FTFs.  Same here.

I’m not saying it makes any sense, but I’ve been enjoying the ride.

Maybe it's the Christmas morning presents under the tree thing as IceColdUK says.  Also, we know one can't get First To Discover unless one is watching and ready to log it.

For people hoping to log it, yes, that's a possibility.  Go read about the issues of massive "virtual logs" of TBs that persons never held.  The Tracking Code got onto a list, acquired way too many crazy logs to manage, so now it's locked, nobody can log it.  So this one might have a limited logging window.  It needs to be not locked to get the icon.

Anyone else notice that this Trackable cannot be Tracked?  It wasn't even dipped into a cache, I guess it won't be placed into one.  There's no "distance" info nor location info.  It's just a code that appeared in the universe, which is pretty loose for a GZ.  Maybe people logging it will look up where on Mars it is when logged and update its general location.  But I'd bet most don't.  Will it be like a car TB or backpack TB, where nobody mentions its location?  :anicute:
