Oregon 700 - actual purpose of bluetooth setting

You can connect to a phone via bluetooth, load caches, and get phone messages.  I bought my 750 when there were still some issues with bluetooth, so I use wifi instead.

Bluetooth with the Garmin Connect App works with other products, so if you already have Garmin devices connected, you might as well connect your GPS the same way.  If you tend to connect to various hotspots, you may opt for wifi, for consistency.  Otherwise, either wifi or bluetooth might work fine.

If you use wifi to connect to your phone, and you have the bluetooth feature set up, now you have two ways to connect in the field.  That might come in handy at times.
