+D_Jakke
Why pictures not showing up in my gallery? Quote Link to comment
+kunarion
I think I'm seeing the same issue with with a boken image, but I can't tell. Do you mind posting a link to your Profile? Maybe it was a temporary web site issue. Someone posted a broken image in a log on my cache yesterday. Something went wrong at least for a while. Maybe the broken images will be automagically fixed, but if the images don't appear, they may need to be uploaded again. Is it working for you now? I tried uploading a picture to a TB just now and it works fine, using iPad and Chrome. What method did you use when uploading? Which App or browser? Do you remember what time it was? There was some "file extension" strangeness in the past couple of days that cleared up on its own. Wild guess, someone in IT was making live site adjustments and not telling anybody, things broke for a bit, things are normal again, except in the process something got missed. Just a guess. It's definitely something that broke yesterday with Groundspeak servers, and the effects linger. I can even get a "Runtime Error" screen if I drill down to an affected image URL, and other errors from the Gallery page. Looks like a malformed URL to me, but I didn't spend a lot of time poking around, because uploads are OK at this time. See this log for an example of a Thread-related broken image: https://coord.info/GL10QKZ3J It's not my image, and I don't even know what it's a picture of . But it seems to have been uploaded at the time when they were all failing. Now they are just broken links. I can't tell if it's only a few broken links, but if it was widespread, I think we'd see many posts. You can upload the files again, and I'd bet they work. I uploaded an image as a test today, and it's fine. It must have been temporary (that's why I asked specifically what time it occurred). I'm guessing that the problem mentioned in this Thread is only for images posted on about February 18, 2020, where later uploads are now OK. Edited February 19, 2020 by kunarion Quote Link to comment

Well, in case of no reupload available the broken URLs can be fiddled to download the uploaded unreachable Images . Example for broken URL: https://img.geocaching.com/cache/log/https%3A//img.geocaching.com%3A443/ffc77447-cb73-412e-ad5a-a45898bc35ba.jpg Fixed URL:https://img.geocaching.com:443/ffc77447-cb73-412e-ad5a-a45898bc35ba.jpg no real magic Quote Link to comment

I tried it just now with a log that was made by a Finder on one of my caches, and it worked! The links now have ":" (colon) instead of "%3A", so they're even easier to fix. I chopped the URL, and reposted the photo in a Note log. Quote Link to comment

Hello to Seattle, I hope I get something wrong. A customer, also called cacher, uploaded a picture to their log and the linked URL of you of the picture is now broken. Does now this customer have to upload this picture again? Are these customers informed? I mean, the picture is broken in the cache listing and also in the cache gallery for all times until the end of our days, if the owner of the picture doesn't upload it again. Is this really the solution or do I understand something wrong? Kind regards. PS: Bug Report Edited February 25, 2020 by 2Abendsegler Quote Link to comment

Is this really the solution or do I understand something wrong? You are right. You may also try what I tried, a couple of posts ago. I fixed the URL as mentioned, downloaded the image file, then uploaded it to a Note on the cache. The only thing that remains is to delete the bad link from the cacher’s log on my cache page. Which I probably won’t do. Anyway, people aren’t notified except that when they check to see that all is well with their log, they see the broken link. It’s good practice to check one’s post after posting, especially *ahem* around this site. I’m not sure these links cannot be fixed on the IT side. But it possibly depends on how widespread the effect is. It happened to only one image on one of my caches. Edited February 25, 2020 by kunarion 1 Quote Link to comment
+2Abendsegler
Thanks @kunarion for your helpful answer. My customers would make me a head shorter, not because of the mistake, but because of the way it is handled. 1 Quote Link to comment
