(BUG) Message center: new message, no email, no notification

I got an email this morning that someone had logged one of our earthcaches.  In their log, they indicated they had sent answers, but I didn't have an email (inbox or spam filter) that they had either sent it directly or used the message center.  I also did not have an indication on the site that they had sent a message (envelope with orange dot), and when I clicked on the message center, it did not show a new message.

 

I went to their user profile and clicked send message, to send them a reminder note.  Only then did their message appear, sent four hours earlier.

 

I have my profile set to receive an email every time I receive a message, as I am aware that the "send notification after 30 minutes of inactivity" option does not always work.

 

Might be a one-off hiccup, but I thought I'd post it.

Nope. Looks like the MC is working for me.

Often times, I cannot get the message center to open at all. BTW it's been months, since I have been able to click on the "view larger map", from a cache page, with any result. It just spins, and never opens.  Thanks to anyone who has any advice for me. Cache Away!
