+Chipper3
How long does it take for a cache to be marked (Red Circles) on the page that shows current caches. This is the page that is part of the "placing a new cache" process and shows locations currently taken. I have two caches approved and have been active for about one week but they are not marked. I have attached a picture of the graphic I am referring to. Quote Link to comment
+HunterandSamuel
An interesting question! I always look on the geocache map (under Play and then View Map) for my recently approved cache hides (a star shows up). Edited January 12, 2020 by HunterandSamuel Quote Link to comment
RuideAlmeida
Those red circles of 161m of radius around caches placed on the published coordinates (not any others) will show when you start the process to define coordinates for a new cache only. Not on the regular maps. 1 Quote Link to comment
+Chipper3
@RuideAlmeida Yes, I understand. But, I have two caches approved and published and active but they do not show-up on the map used to start the process of pacing a cache so a person investigating the placement of their new cache would not know that the area is "taken." +Chipper3
@Hunter and Samuel. The stars show up on the map used to check out caches so I know they are in the system. What is troubling to me is that they do not show up on the "placing a new cache process map." Quote Link to comment

Looking into your profile, you only have caches that will never show up on that map... Multi, Hybrid an Mysteries, because they are not on the published coordinates. If they show up, everybody would go straight to the Final Location... or close at least. 1 4 Quote Link to comment
+Isonzo Karst
The planning map shows posted coords of Traditional caches and Multi-caches IF those coords are indicated as physical. I assume your 2 Multi have virtual stages. There's nothing for the planning map to show about your caches. Edited January 12, 2020 by Isonzo Karst 1 1 Quote Link to comment
+Chipper3
Thanks to all. Both caches are multi-stage. One stage IS virtual and the second is hidden final location. I understand that physical location is hidden for the final cache location but that seems to set up an issue when a new cacher thinks that location is OK (no red circles). So, does the Reviewer catch that in the review process. I'm good to go but just trying to correctly understand how the process works. It's all good. =) Edited January 12, 2020 by Chipper3 Quote Link to comment

I go find the caches in an area first, and locals are often glad to help. I would need to go there to work out the distance anyway, might as well find caches while I'm at it . If there's a suspiciously available spot in a saturated area, then yeah, check on that. Edited January 12, 2020 by kunarion I needed to get dressed, someone was approaching down the trail. 2 Quote Link to comment
+BethDaddyKaty
I think a few apps will show a 161m circle around each cache which shows immediately if the area is free, other than as others have said hidden stages which can only be seen by a reviewer. Very useful for hiding caches but I keep it on all the time as a visual guide to how close caches will be. Quote Link to comment
