Bill93
I saw reference to this posting about a former Native American boundary that someone has placed disks along. The unusual feature is that the disks are marked "NOT A SURVEY MARKER." Scroll down in the linked page to find pictures. https://masonellis.wordpress.com/2013/01/20/in-search-of-the-quapaw-line/ Quote Link to comment
kayakbird
Bill93, Thanks for the link to history (again!). Any clue at all to when they were placed? Maybe as a reference object in a PID'd mark? MEL Quote Link to comment
Bill93
Sorry, I haven't researched this. I was just struck by the irony of what looks like a survey market that says it isn't. Quote Link to comment
foxtrot_xray
Hah, that's really interesting and neat. Now I'm tempted to have a few custom disks made that simply say, "This is not what you're looking for." ... 50 years from now, someone will find it and go, "What?!" Quote Link to comment
Bill93
But if you put one too close to a bench mark some geocacher will still claim a find for it. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
