+windsock58
I am looking for somewhere to go within a 4-6 hour drive from southwestern lower Michigan where I can find a concentration of fun caches. Anyone have suggestions? 1 Quote Link to comment
+ByronForestPreserve
Not sure if it's quite in the range, but West Bend, WI has a ton of great caches. They are the hosts of the Cache Bash event and the town is the "Geocaching Capital of the Midwest." Quote Link to comment
+coachstahly
https://coord.info/GC60PXF I'd suggest this series of gadget caches along SR 44 between Shelbyville and Rushville, IN. Mapquest says it's a 3 hour drive from Niles to Shelbyville (I'd say more like 3 1/2) and then a few more to the first one in the series. The one copied above is in the middle and the majority of them are closer to Rushville than they are Shelbyville. They all border crop fields, most of which are owned by the CO or members of the CO's family and either have pull offs close by or country road pull offs. Although semis rush by on SR 44, most of the caches are far enough off the road that you're not even that close to the road. Walking from cache to cache (when able to) means walking in tall grass far enough off the road to feel safe. As an added bonus, if there's time, Indianapolis is home to quite a few virtuals as well as Crown Hill Cemetery, which is back in the news due to a relative of John Dillinger wanting to have the body exhumed to determine if it's really him interred there. The cemetery is home to quite a few caches. Quote Link to comment
+marshajean
Crosswinds Marsh. Just southwest of Detroit Metro Airport. You will spend all day hiking, up to 10 miles, and you can earn a pathtag! Oakville-Waltz Rd/Haggerty are the crossroads. All caches are well maintained and nicely hidden. Quote Link to comment
