Just select any cache using the app.

Then select Waypoints and add a new one (hitting the + sign), with the coords of your desired location.

Later you can use this Waypoint to place your cache.

Please remember that you will need to create the listing on the homepage, not on the app. ;)

Good explanation, but it seems to me, that this isn't very intuitive.   If it were me, I'd have a "Capture Waypoint"  icon or item on the main menu, which had an optional averaging function.  Then one could "save waypoint".  That could check the waypoint for proximity issues (at least verify that it doesn't conflict with nearby traditional caches) and "upload" it to the users account.  The user could then create a cache listing from uploaded "saved waypoints" using the website.

That would be great!  I like to take tons of waypoint snapshots, and I'd love to save those on-the-fly.  Just like I do with a Garmin GPS, snapshot, save (defaults to the next internally incrementing waypoint number), fast.  But The Official App is not set up (yet) for creating cache pages, not even for working on cache pages.  So I'd like more features (testing for nearby Traditionals might be cool!), but would prefer the App remain more about helping people understand the ins and outs of finding Geocaches.

But, yeah. You can save a waypoint or two, into any active cache.  Or just start navigation, and from the compass screen make a note of the current location coordinates.  You will need to transcribe coords anyway.

The app has the ability to capture a waypoint, but it's just confusing to have it associated with some other existing cache.  I don't think that the app should be used for creating cache pages, but the ability to capture waypoints that are subsequently needed to create a cache listing, or just to mark you car, could be a lot easier.

This may be drifting just a bit off-topic, but I wholeheartedly agree with the above statement by NYPaddleCacher.  I do use the app to capture waypoints while scoping out new cache locations, but I don't always remember which of the nearby caches I used to store those way points.  Sometimes it takes me awhile to find them.  If we could simply capture a waypoint and give it a name, not necessarily attached to another cache, it might be easier to locate it again by searching waypoint names.

I also agree with not using the app to create cache pages - that is far easier to do on a computer with a browser and screen that I can SEE!
