Popular Post +MTCLMBR
Kinda of thought of this before but would really love it right now and know others would. Would be great to have some sort filter for logs IE click on the 'Announcement' icon at the top of logs where it has the log type counts and show only the announcements (could be done for the others ie "found" "DNF" "note" etc). Noticing where this would be great. All events especially megas I see most benefit as well as other caches. For example looking at the "West Bend Cache Bash" GC7X7H4 this weekend, there are currently 2 Event Announcements but I have to scroll and scroll and scroll and scroll through the hundreds of will attend logs and notes to try and find. Sure if I have marked my will attend I will get emails of the announcements. But if I mark that afterwards I don't get those previous emails and I have to scroll and scroll and scroll, and then am using Ctrl+F to search for 'announcement' But would be great if this was more user friendly by just being able to filter the announcements (or potentially other log types, like need maintenance logs as a CO) out. 7 3 Quote Link to comment
+RecipeForDisaster
Great idea. I've asked myself briefly if there was a way to only view DNFs on a cache page , for instance.... then I'm disappointed when I realize there isn't. You can search the page, but it doesn't work well especially when the page needs to scroll to load... you won't hit results where the logs haven't loaded. Quote Link to comment
+arisoft
3rd party services offer this kind of filtering but this is so basic level feature that it really should be available. Many times I try to find special notes about coordinate changes etc. and they are almost impossible to find by scrolling endlessly. If I could see a list of all finds at once I could use search tools integrated to the browser. Edited August 7, 2019 by arisoft 1 Quote Link to comment
+dprovan
I see the point about announcements, but I'd use a feature like that more often with other log types, so I'd definitely want it to be general purpose feature for all log types in all logs. I always thought it would be logical and useful to click on the counts and see only those logs. In fact, it's so logical, I was kinda surprised when it didn't work the first time I tried it. 1 Quote Link to comment
+thebruce0
I've been wanting this for so long. Above the log history are icons showing the quantity of each log type. Why not make those clickable as filters to in some way only show those specific types? The "View log book" link already provides an All-or-Friends filter. Why not expand it to show log types? I'd guess that filtering to show Announcement logs would be the most beneficial to everyone. Otherwise you have to rely on saved email notifications or loading an entire log history to search for announcements. Quite tedious. 3 Quote Link to comment
+Camroo
That Would Be Really Useful! Especially For Megas And Stuff when you want to see the announcements but there are 500 logs before it lol Quote Link to comment

+thebruce0
Yes, hack scripts can do many things. This is about useful suggestions for Groundspeak to implement so we don't have to make use of custom scripts (or force people who don't have such skills/knowledge/abilities to do technical things they probably don't want to do anyway) 2 1 Quote Link to comment

No, but an unintended consequence of mentioning may be that the desired helpful fix from Groundspeak is made a very low priority to developers because an outside workaround is promoted. 2 1 Quote Link to comment
+Pontiac_CZ
Very good idea, OP. I use GC little helper II script which allows to do that already but it's not as effective as the direct approach could be (it needs to load all logs to be able to filter them). But HQ has so little resources recently that even a simple thing like a log deletion reason box still has not been coded (and we've discussed it for years here). Proposed functionality is much more complex than that... Quote Link to comment
