zeus661
Planning on visiting Michigan for some Geocaching. We have been to Marquette twice and Port Huron once. Really liked Marquette with the trails. Looking for another place to spend 4-5 days caching where we can drive to a trailhead and walk to find multi caches. Can anyone suggest a place? Upper or Lower Michigan is fine. Thanks Quote Link to comment
The Jester
There are two special caches (IMHO) you should make sure to get: GC35 Power Island (oldest in state) and GC36 Geocache 612 (one of only four caches left in the world hidden in Aug 2000). Power Island takes planning, as you need a boat to get out there (bring/borrow/rent/hire). They aren't that far apart, about 35 miles. Quote Link to comment
marshajean
So many suggestions for parking, then caching...my favorite thing to do. - Crosswinds Marsh (south of Romulus) - highly recommended - Maybury State Park (Northville) - ditto - I-275 Bike Path (Wayne to Novi) - It's a bike path along a freeway, but it's loaded! - Huron Valley Trail (South Lyon to Orchard Lake) - Quality caches, a little more peaceful bike path, some paved, some dirt - Something Smells Fishy Series (Milford) - Beautiful walk - One Big Smiley Returns (Milford) - Another beautiful area - Pittsfield Preserve (South of Ann Arbor) - Personal stakes here 1 Quote Link to comment
usyoopers
In the Upper Peninsula you can hike the North Country Trail.... lots of caches available! You can start on the trail near US -2 and hike all the way North to M-28..... GC7WH8N will get you started. Edited July 2, 2019 by usyoopers forgot cache listing # Quote Link to comment
usyoopers
Another thought for caching in Michigan.... MiGO partnered up with the DNR to create the Michigan State Parks Centennial GeoTour (GT93). This GeoTour features 100 geocaches hidden in State Parks across the entire State of Michigan, there are rewards for finding a certain number of caches in each of the 4 regions.... check that out, we are having a really fun time visiting Parks we had never been to before! The GeoTour will be active for 3 years, it just started on Memorial weekend this year. Quote Link to comment
