New map refuses to center on archived cache

I have the same problem when I want to search caches near an archived cache. I have used 3rd party tools to circumvent this feature but it is not a very practical way.

The problem is that the search map tries to highlight the selected cache but it also ceases to display archived caches which leads to the trouble - Cache page link is asking to do an impossible task.

Yeah, the new Search page seems to have forgotten the special case cache view on the map, where a specific archived cache may be selected. Instead the Search map is merely plotting a standard search result (which never includes archived caches), so that link won't result in the single [archived] GC listing.

Viewing a specific GC code on the Search map should allow for the possibility that that particular cache is archived. It doesn't need to plot archived caches in any other situation, really (that come to mind at this second at least).  But if you're requesting to view a specific cache on the map, it should always show it, even if a standard search wouldn't include it.

...or, at the very least, the system could check if the cache is archived and then centre the map on the coordinates instead like the Browse map did.

Exactly, the Search map doesn't need to show the archived cache on the map, but it should center the map on the archived cache's location. This is useful when a cache is archived, so people that get notified can "View Larger Map" to see what is nearby.  This may help them decide whether the area is interesting enough to investigate for placing a new cache.

This view can also help them evaluate options for placing a new cache now that the subject cache has been archived.  If there are a lot of caches nearby, then placing a new cache 150 feet away from the archived cache may not be as feasible as placing a new cache 10 feet away.

Currently, the workaround would be to click on "nearby caches" (see screenshot) and then "Map this location".
