richardmedwards
I am lucky to work at a school with a 70 acre site. I would dearly like to set up a private geocaching 'course' (if that is the right word) for school use during Outdoor Learning lessons. Is this possible? I read that geocaches need to be more than 150 metres apart but this may not matter if it is a private course?? Is it possible to set up 10 different geocaches on our school site? Alternatively, I guess it would be a course where, once you have found the first cache, there are coordinates which lead to the next cache. I am new to geocaching so please go easy. Many many thanks in advance. Richard Quote Link to comment
Keystone
The Geocaching.com listing guidelines won't matter, because private caches won't be published on Geocaching.com. Note: since you won't be able to see each cache in a geocaching smarthphone app, you will need to think of other ways to provide coordinates and instructions. 2 Quote Link to comment

+noncentric
Something that I think would be simplest is to print the coordinates of the 'private geocaches' on paper and give those pages to the participants. Then the participants can use a variety of GPS apps, or even the Google Maps app, to enter the coords and navigate to the location. 4 Quote Link to comment
+cerberus1
Didn't see any finds on your profile, so I'd say maybe find a few caches yourself, and see what the hobby entails, getting a better grasp on possibilities for your "course". It seems you may be leaning to a Multi Cache idea, and it might be doable, but being private, wouldn't have anything to do with this site. I feel something along the lines of noncentric, printed format and any gps app that'll accept coordinates for navigation could work. Quote Link to comment
+K13
As a long-time geocacher, it took me several hours to prepare and plan for the teaching of a Geocaching Merit Badge. It then took me another several hours setting up the private caches inside camp for the several weeks of classes. I would suggest you find your local Scout Shop and buy that Merit Badge Handbook. It has very good information for teaching this subject to kids (and adults as well - I've used it for Geocaching 101 events) Quote Link to comment
