+ddl49
Hello I just acquired a GPSMAP 66 after having a 60S. I can not see the photos of geocaching spoilers anymore in the description of the caches. The image folder is in the GPS firware. I use GSAK to transfer these data. Anyone have I had this problem? Thank you for your answers Edited January 28, 2019 by ddl49 1 Quote Link to comment
+Red90
No Garmin GPS has a way to link the cache to photos. Quote Link to comment
+Red90
Discussing scraping images from Groundspeak on their forums is probably not a good idea..... Quote Link to comment
+Mineral2
Is it scraping? I was under the impression that images could be acquired via the API. 1 Quote Link to comment
+Red90
Cool. Does GSAK then have this all built in with the regular menus? Quote Link to comment
+Mineral2
As far as I know, it does. With iCaching, you can select a set of caches and download images from a menu option. You get only the images uploaded by the Cache Owner, not user-submitted images attached to logs. There is then an option to load cache images to the GPS, and they get put in the right place to be associated with the cache. 1 Quote Link to comment

Thank you for your answers So back to the original question. As there is a way. How are you getting the caches and photos onto the GPS? How are you modifying the caches to contain the links to the photos? It probably would be easier to ask on the GSAK forums. Quote Link to comment
+Atlas Cached
Recent Garmin GPSr no longer support this feature, including the GPSMAP 66. Quote Link to comment

+Red90
Has anyone written a GSAK macro that does it all using the API? I had a bit of a look, but it still looked like it worked the old way. Use one program to scrape the site and another to work them into the GPX and onto the GPS. If they can be accessed via API, it should all work within a macro. Really, it could all be an option within GSAK. Quote Link to comment
+Red90
Okay. Used the SendImagesToGarmin macro. It worked on my 64S. For some reason the macro is shown as experimental for 6 years and is hidden deep in a very long thread. https://gsak.net/board/index.php?showtopic=21156&view=findpost&p=202293 Edited January 29, 2019 by Red90 Quote Link to comment

Yes, but if the GPSr does not support the feature, having the images in the unique folder structure on the device is pointless. 2 Quote Link to comment
+Henne1312
I know it worked on the Oregon 700 as I had one. Just tested, it doesn't work with the GPSMAP 66s. Maybe with the next long-awaited firmware update. Quote Link to comment
+ddl49
I agree with Henne1312. I will wait for the update of this firmware. Thank you for your answers. Quote Link to comment
+rgschmidt
There seems to be some sort of preparation for photo's on the GPAMAP 66SR. I loaded images to /GARMIN/GeocachePhotos/ and there is a counter in the hint part of Geocaches that indicates the number of photos: "Photos: #". Quote Link to comment

+rgschmidt
That is really odd, Mine shows photos: # with both “Description”, “Hint” and “Logs”. It is always positioned below the Cache size field Quote Link to comment
+Atlas Cached
I have emailed Garmin to request clarification... They may or may not respond. 1 Quote Link to comment
