go to function on explorist 310 gps

Hi there we just got this gps and cant find in the manual how to get the go to function on a waypoint.  I can find it by hitting menu on a geocache but it does not come up on the menu for a waypoint. My husbands old gps would also tell you how many feet until you reach your destination this one does not.  Maybe a setting is not turned on for these functions.    His old gps was a magellen 315 and would let you mark a fishing spot on a frozen lake and let you go to it and it would tell you how close you were getting (like a count down in feet)    This function does not seem to work on this new model.  Any advise on this would be appreciated.
