+third generation Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 As a family we started caching about 13 or so years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Loads of adventures and met some wonderful people We set loads of caches near where we live and with friends a bit further afield. Life, however, has interrupted our fun and we find we have not been caching for ages. We have a few caches (mostly around St Andrews) that we spent a lot of time researching and it seems a shame to let them die. One of our favourites is 'The Stakes Were High' GCVKVA which always seems popular with people. If anyone is interested in adopting any caches that are ours please contact me and I will see how we go about the technical bit. Jean ( Oldest 3G) Quote
+MartyBartfast Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 If you're on Facebook you might get a better response on a local Geocaching group - like it or not FB seems to be where all the Geocaching chat happens these days, the forums only seem to be frequented by a small handfull. Given that they're quite old hides I would think someone in the area would be up for adopting them. Quote

Keystone Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 I moved this thread from the Geocaching Topics forum. Quote
ruby_slippers Posted June 21, 2019 Posted June 21, 2019 I have someone interested in adopting one of my caches. I haven't been out in years and it was in need of maintenance. She was gracious enough to replace the container. Can someone tell me the procedure? I don't want to be a dead beat CO. Thanks! Quote
Keystone Posted June 21, 2019 Posted June 21, 2019 Hello, ruby_slippers, from across the Ohio River in Sewickley. For cache transfers, use the do-it-yourself adoption tool found at http://www.geocaching.com/adopt . As the existing owner, you will need to go there first, and enter the GC Code and the name of the transferee. Then, a message is sent to alert the new owner to go to the same page and accept the transfer. No involvement by Geocaching.com or a Community Volunteer Reviewer is needed. For more information on cache adoptions, see this Help Center article: https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=54 Quote
