Update webwigo.net

Recommended Posts

Just hoping the maintainer of webwigo.net is reading this. Can Webwigo.net be updated with the latest version? The current one still uses Google Maps, and that hasn't worked for some time now.

The latest version has Bing and OSM.

Huh.  A new version of Webwigo had been developed three years ago and put on Github.  It looks fairly workable.  I wonder why development stopped?

kikinoot should be the one responsible for Webwigo.  I'll send him a message and ask him to reply to the thread.

Dear all,

I'm aware of the Google Maps issue...

As mentioned by Ranger Fox, please use the dev version (www.webwigo.net/dev) until I make it the default on the website (should happen very soon).

Interface with builders should be still OK even after the switch. Development has stalled for many good and bad reasons. I will maybe resume it if I can

find some interest to do so.

Hi Nicolas,

If the Google map issue is due to API, maybe it would be sufficient to ask webwigo's users to input their own API key (which is free for quite low volume of calls)?

What do you think about it?

Olivier.

The API key is free and for the level of activity we're taking about, no one should see a charge.  The Groundspeak builder's Google Maps interface is tied to my API key and I don't see a charge.  Admittedly, I doubt there's as much use with this builder these days.

If you want, kikinoot, make a list of some things that need working on or point me to a bug list.  When I have some time, I'll contribute to the Github project.  Or if you want to share the source for the current production version of Webwigo, I should be able to look through and resolve the issue.  It's a very helpful tool.

Good to know you're here kikinoot. Didn't know about the /dev version, so I had the latest version running on my own server as well. As for resuming development, that would of course be great, but as far as I'm concerned, it's already a great piece of work. 👍
