Log a dog tag

How does log a dog tag work? What is dipping? Do other geocachers log my dog if we meet? Do I log my dogs traceable at the cache we find? I can’t find any real clear instructions on how it works. I also have sen the expression “dipping”and have no idea what that means.

When you find a cache, you can place the dog into it and make a “Drop” log. In most cases, you won't leave the dog inside, so next you make a “Retrieve” log. That is known as “dipping”, where the trackable item is at the cache site for no more than a moment, it's not left in the cache.

 

To make it simpler to Drop/Retrieve, you can do both actions at once with a “Visit” log:

"Dipping" is an older term, used to refer to Dropping a trackable, then Retrieving it from a cache.  Often many in a day.

Today, it's simply the "Visit" log (took it to...) , created I suppose to make that trackable movement easier...
