+jcbisco Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 There are homes, roads, restaurants etc that have been around for many years but still not showing up on the app. When was that last updated ? Quote
+Viajero Perdido Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Hi. Groundspeak (providers of "the" app) are in the business of running a game about finding boxes in the woods. They don't concern themselves with launching satellites and collecting imagery. Rather, they contract that out to an outside source, likely the almighty Google if I had to guess. (I don't use "the" app.) Ask Google. Other caching apps (there are several for iOs) might offer different satellite imagery sources, I dunno. On the website, I prefer Esri WorldImagery because in my area at least, the imagery is better quality than Google. 1 Quote

+Viajero Perdido Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018
Betcha didn't know... There are a fair number of providers of satellite imagery. When I wear my hat as an editor of OpenStreetMap, we have access to: Esri (two flavors), DigitalGlobe (ditto), MapBox, and Bing. But pointedly not Google. Of all those, Bing is the one I check first; in my area at least, their imagery is sharp and clear.
Quote
