Plastic roads as New Category

Recommended Posts

This is an easy one for the Waymarking community to get behind. Plastic roads are just being introduced. Mainly in small sections. Ideal for us to locate and photograph. The UK developer is based in Southern Scotland, but other countries have their own promoters. Proof of plastic being used in construction of the carriageway might be difficult. Photo of inaugural sign, perhaps, or article promoting Plastic road section.

How else do we provide proof plus any other ideas?

This is such a rare occurrence that I wouldn't be in favor of this. However, given a few more years I would be. However if in that time plastic takes over asphalt then again I would note nay for the same reason as it would become over prevalent. I think a better option would be "non-traditional roads" as in roads that are not created from dirt, wood, or asphalt. This would be an interesting category I could be in favor of.

There's a 300 metre stretch of road in Craigieburn, Victoria which used an additive to the asphalt made up of 530,000 plastic bags, more than 12,000 recycled printer cartridges and 168,000 glass bottles. As to whether there is a sign beside the road lauding that I don't know but it was the first in Australia.  There are a few others in Queensland & NSW.
