Team Misguided
Okay guys. I've been silent too long. Here are the facts as I see them: 1. The guidelines and the FAQ's need to be updated. This has become a priority issue for Groundspeak employees and the volunteer admin community. Once finalized they will be posted to the site as soon as possible. 2. The volunteer admins are just that: volunteers. We don't get paid for this, we freely give our time to help out this community. We were approached by Groundspeak because they felt we could interpret and apply the guidelines fairly. 3. Keeping up with our admin duties takes time away from our families and eats in to our caching time. When we do get a chance to get out and cache we have to try to seperate ourselves from our admin duties. We often find caches that should not have been approved. When that happens we each take some action. I usually email the cache owner and voice my concerns that way. Then I watch the cache to see if they make changes. 4. The original topic of this thread has been lost in the bickering. I have offered to work with vds on his cache to make it approvable and that offer is still on the table. As I said before, this thread has caught the attention of TPTB and your concerns are being addressed. It's time for this thread to scroll off the page. Again, my perspective is that although you're volunteers, you're representatives of Groundspeak in this context, and my opinion is that you should be interpreting the rules as they are currently written, not as they will be changed to read. If you are asked to implement changes that aren't written, my recommendation is to change the documentation before implementing the change in practice. We obviously disagree there, so 'nuff said. quote:3. Keeping up with our admin duties takes time away from our families and eats in to our caching time. As I mentioned, I have to decline. Thanks. I don't feel I could maintain it in that particular location past that date. Given that basic fact, I didn't see any reasonable alternatives to make it approvable. quote:As I said before, this thread has caught the attention of TPTB and your concerns are being addressed. +vds
I see the guidelines/rules for cache placement have been recently updated. Big improvement in completeness and clarity. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
