Can't log my TB, and i don't know why

Recommended Posts

It claims when i try logging this geocoin that the tracking number does not match the trackable. So having taken the coin but I can't log that I have taken it and curiously there were two other TBs listed in the cache who have also not been logged as taken. Wondering if these two things are connected and what I can do to fix this. Any help would be appreciated! I have warned the coin's owner so far.

The tracking code on the coin you have in your possession now has nothing to do with another in the cache. :)

Have you tried O (oh) instead of 0 (zero), I (eye) instead of L (ell), 5 for an S, 3 for 8, and so on?

If you get a response from the owner, tell them what number you are trying to log and ask them for a correction on whatever you're doing wrong.

How did you decide who the owner is?  Is there a cacher name on the coin?  Some "coins" are not actually trackable items.  But they may have some "numbers".  For example, if the number starts with "GC", it's likely a Geocache number, not a tracking number.

Be sure to not post an actual tracking number online.  But if you can figure out which coin it is somehow, you can post what is called the "reference number" seen on it's page (a reference number will probably begin with the letters "TB").

Some other ideas.  If you can't figure it out, post something on the cache page about the issue, or on the coin's page if you know which coin it is.  In some cases, there's a problem where nobody can seem to log it, so they drop it into a cache for others to work on :cute:.  If there's no reply from the owner, you could place it into a cache anyway, with some info (maybe a photo not showing the secret tracking number).  Or you could contact Geocaching.com.

Was thinking about this earlier, but saw they've found a few before and might understand the difference.

The other 2/3rds had something similar happen, but the unactivated coins we've passed out don't belong to us, but whoever it was given to, or found it in a cache.

 - Folks assumed that the name on the coin is the owner, and by the lack of info in logs, we didn't know who they were either.  :)
