GPS connectivity

My Garmin eTrex 10 worked perfectly a year ago when I bought it. It has been idle for 10 months and now when I try to sent a cache from the map to the GPS it does not work.  Clicking on cache should pop up the GPS destination. Is there a link or a driver I need to install?

Currently, even basic members can load a GPX file from a cache page, with all paperless info intact.  Pretty cool!

You may place GPX files directly into the GPX folder of a modern Garmin GPSr, no plug-ins needed.

Download the GPX file from Geocaching.com. Not "Send To GPS", use the "GPX File" button, on a cache page. If a paid member with a Pocket Query, you'd unzip the GPX files.
Plug the Garmin into the USB port of the computer.
Find the Garmin as a [DRIVE] or [storage device] and open it.
Therein, locate a file folder named something like Garmin/GPX/.
Click, drag and drop (or copy) the downloaded GPX file(s) to that [DRIVE]:Garmin/GPX/ folder.
Right-click and select Eject, unplug the Garmin.
Go Geocaching.

I use the  iCaching app .  From the cache page select download GPX. Then open the iCaching app, select upload files which should take you to Downloads on your computer, select the GPX files to upload and then select upload. Plus the Garmin into the computer USB port. When it is ready then on the iCaching app select download to GPS. it will transfer the GPX files to the Garmin. Sounds worse than it really is to accomplish. Never tried the above method, yet.

I've got a related problem. My Garmin Etrex 10 doesn't connect to windows at all. It doesn't show up as a drive or storage device, there's nothing happening whatsoever. Does anybody know what will help / what I'm doing wrong? I've tried a new cable, new batteries and mutiple computers but nothing...

Try another new USB cable.

 

Here's a thread about the issue, with some ideas to try.  I can't tell if the OP ever fixed the original problem.  Bear in mind that these threads tend to develop questions about about "Send To GPS" not working, or "The computer nor recognizing the device", two separate issues.
