Writing coordinates.

Latitude (the first of the pair of coordinates) is either N or S. If the cache is north of the equator, it's N, otherwise it's S. Longitude (the second coordinate) is either E or W. If the cache is east of a line through Greenwich (in England), which includes most of Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, it's E, otherwise (for the Americas, Greenland and the westernmost bits of Europe and Africa) it's W. I hope that helps.

Furthermore, N/S/E/W can be left off.   Any latitude north of the equator can be represented with a positive value for degree and negative for south of the equator.  Longitude coordinates east of the Greenwich mean line are positive, and negative if west of it.
