+kidcobalt
Still learning, getting close. What do all the waypoints under waypoint manager mean. Are they equal to the caches I put in? or POIs or something else ???? Quote Link to comment
+Max and 99
I use hidden waypoints for my final coords and make visible waypoints for things like parking or trailhead. Update: sorry, I misunderstood the question and wasn't helpful at all. Edited April 12, 2018 by Max and 99 Quote Link to comment
+hal-an-tow
Waypoint manager is presumably a feature of your GPS ? Always best to mention the device type when asking , it increases the likelihood of getting a useful reply ! On Garmin etrex (and I guess probably other devices too) waypoint manager shows you the waypoints which cache setters have made and uploaded to the cache pages as extra, secondary locations. They are (usually) not the same as the actual cache locations, but can be things like co-ordinates for suggested parking places, traiheads where paths leave roads, or helpful points when navigation out in the wild is unclear on the ground, whatever the cache owner wants to mark for your attention. The majority of waypoints are probably stages within multi caches or earthcaches though, taking you to those places you need to visit to attempt the cache. If the cache owner has been helpful, they will have added a short note describing what the waypoint is, click on a few waypoints in manager and you will see .It's somewhat annoying if they don't as it can be a pain on a garmin to work out which waypoint belongs to which cache if you are trying to follow a multi or earthcache in a city ! You can see the waypoints on map view on a garmin, and on the small map on the cache page when viewed on a computer. You can see the waypoints listed on the cache page too, If hidden waypoints are listed, those are not sent to your GPS, but are the cache setter's hidden final co-ordinates concealed from view except by the owner, the reviewer and the system. 2 Quote Link to comment
