How do i download a geocache onto a Magellan eXplorist GC from a windows 8 computer

i have a windows 8 computer and i also have a Magellan eXplorist GC gps, and i have been trying for hours to get JUST ONE geocache to download onto my gps. i feel like i have tried everything, i have downloaded the Magellan communicator but i dont even know hot to work that either. and i downloaded vantage point but i dont know how to work that either. so if any one out there can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a thread about some ways to load Geocaches onto a Magellan Explorist:

"Magellan Communicator" and "Send To My GPS" may not work now.  Things are changing.

There are many threads about loading GPX files, depending on what you want to do.  But if you in fact just want to load a cache or two, you can click the button labeled "GPX File" on a cache page, and save the file into the Geocaches folder of the Explorist.
