Message Center - Unable to send messages to users with ampersand ("&") in their username

I don't seem to be able to send to users with ampersand in their name.

Here are a couple of examples of profiles with ampersand in them:

When you click on "send message", a conversation with their name is not brought up.

If I click on "new message" and type in their name, the "send" button is greyed out.

Both your examples allowed me to access their profiles.  Most issues we've seen we couldn't even view their profiles to start a message/email.  Maybe someone is attempting a fix and just not there yet?   Not just ampersands either. Can't get myself to send someone a message to see if it works for me though...

The last two promotions had issues with some not able to access their own accounts for some odd reason. This new planet one may see that again as well.  Odd it's not fixed yet, it's been a while.
