+Slimeworm
I know how to adopt geocaches but it would nice if a person could adopt one that was abandoned or neglected or have inactive owners. Quote Link to comment

You may want to read this recent discussion about this very matter. In summary, forced adoptions won't happen because they caused issues for HQ in the early years and would now be in violation of their own Terms of Use, which could lead to legal issues. Cache listings on this site remain the property of the original owner until they provide permission otherwise. Edited February 21, 2018 by The A-Team 1 Quote Link to comment

+dprovan
The general wisdom is that it's better to let abandoned or neglected caches go through their life cycle by posting NMs on neglected caches and then NAs once the neglected cache can be considered abandoned. After the old cache is archived, you can plant a nice new cache there, as much like or unlike the original as you want it to be. Quote Link to comment
