Mac and Garmin etrex 10

Recommended Posts

You need to make sure the USB mode setting in System is set to mass transfer mode.  When you hook it up to the computer, it should show up as a drive.  You can then put GPX files on to it.  Either manually to the Garmin/GPX directory with individual GPX files or pocket queries OR using the "Send to Garmin" feature in the lists and use Garmin's Express program.

See 1:50 for the Mass Storage mode.

Geocaches are just .gpx files that get installed in the /Garmin/Garmin/GPX folder. As a premium member, you can download the gpx file (right next to the "send to gps" button) and save it directly into the GPX folder on your eTrex. You can also use pocket queries to bulk load caches from an area. The only downside to the eTrex 10 is the limited number of caches it can handle. But otherwise you don't need the "send to gps" button anymore.
