+Burwellhouse
Using 2 different Android phones (both Samsung) On one the compass rose seems to be locked to the phone so that North is always at the top of the screen. On the other phone it's fine, but I cant work out how to alter this setting. Help greatly appreciated Quote Link to comment
+kunarion
Have you tried to calibrate the compass? Does the compass work fine in other Apps? I can't tell, so here's some info: http://www.stonekick.com/blog/the-compass-is-not-working-on-my-android-phone/ Quote Link to comment
+rocketgarden
If the compass isn't moving at all, it would suggest that your device doesn't actually have a compass, or that it's malfunctioning Do you know what the specific phone model is? Quote Link to comment

Its a Samsung j5. The NSEW rose is locked in place...the actual compass (the bit that points to where the cache is) moves, so it sort of works.. ...you just need a real compass next to the phone to work out which way round to hold the phone. Rocketgarden's impression is correct. The Samsung J5 has no magnetic compass sensor. Quote Link to comment

It sounds like the navigation compass, where the phone screen shows distance to cache above a compass with a white/orange needle. It sounds like the 'locked' compass is the one on the overview map? If so, then one of your phones in in Center mode (with North up) and the other is in Swivel mode. You can change it by tapping the icon at the top right of the map, above the map layers icon.
