+cache_n_out
Hi, I noticed some of the trail info is incomplete online. Is there a way to send Groundspeak info on their maps Quote Link to comment
+Viajero Perdido
Hi. It's not possible directly, BUT... Those maps are based on OpenStreetMap, which (in spite of the name) is pretty rich nowadays for trail info. If you're on the website, rather than the house-brand phone app, go to the full-page map at https://www.geocaching.com/map , click Set Map Preferences, select Leaflet, and choose another OSM-based map. I recommend Thunderforest OpenCycleMap. OCM is pretty much up to date (maybe a week old), whereas the default Geocaching map is currently 1.5 years out of date. This is the same map called Trails on the phone app. So it's possible the trails you want are already in OSM, just not in Groundspeak's maps. If the trails are still not visible even on OCM, have a look at http://www.openstreetmap.org where you can add the info yourself. There are plenty of ways of doing that - too many for me to explain, but the website has great tutorials - but the simplest may be to simply add info via the Notes feature. If you have GPS track logs, you can upload them as "GPS traces", and someone will (hopefully) notice and do the cleanup necessary to add them to the map. It's fun editing OSM; I'm kind of addicted to it. 2 Quote Link to comment
