+davidgee931
I have an Etrex 10 which I have used to download Cache pages by inserting the GC code manually. I have now bought a USB lead with the intention of downloading the details automatically straight to my GPS. The problem is the Etrex 10 seems to only cope with a six figure GC code but most of my caches have a seven figure GC code and often it cannot recognise the difference between caches if they have the first six figures being identical. Can anybody suggest a solution or am I condemned to download every cache manually ? Quote Link to comment
+StefandD
Your story is unclear to me. I never look at GC codes, only cache names matter to me. The normal routines of putting caches onto you eTrex are: Use the GPX file button and save it to the \Garmin\GPX map in your eTrex. Use pocket queries. Use Basecamp. Add caches to a list and sent the list to your eTrex. Third party software like GSAK or GAPP. Quote Link to comment
+Wadcutter
Are you loading the caches directly from geocaching.com? Or using a program like GSAK? If using GSAK there's a way you can set it to drop the GC off of every cache listing. I haven't played with EasyGPS for a while so I don't recall if you can do the same with EasyGPS. If you're loading directing from geocaching.com I don't know if there's a way to drop the GC. Quote Link to comment

Have you searched the GPS forum? That might be a better place to get answers for this topic. Quote Link to comment

That doesn't seem right. The eTrex 10 was released in 2011, and caches have had 7-digit GC codes since Tuesday December 26, 2006 at 3:18 am EST. I would fully expect that it would support 7-digit codes, and I'm sure we'd have heard from a lot of people if it didn't. I think you'll need to tell us more about how you're getting the caches into the device. Quote Link to comment

I would have thought that you would only be able to load waypoints manually, not a cache page. I have an Etrex 10 but now use a 20x. Quote Link to comment
