pocket queries and GPX version

Recommended Posts

I came back today after many many years of being absent.

Cleaned up my pocket queries from way back when, downloaded them, installed GSAK and imported them.

But GSAK babbles about the GPX version not being 1.0.1.

I go to check my preferences and it is setup as 1.0.1.

Evidently something is not work'n, but what?

Anyone have a clue?

Thanks

Marc

I download the Zip file, unzip it, and point GSAK to the file to be read.

I ask here because the file version, even if set to 1.0.1 in geocahing.com settings, they still come out as 1.0 when downloaded,

"<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>"

Version 1.01 IS a 1.0 Gpx file with some enhancements (attributes, etc.). GS just named it different. Load the PQs direct via the api.

Alright, so I'll just ignore GSAK's blurb that the files are not 1.0.1 then, thx
(btw, the link from the email gives the same file as going through: Menu > Geocaching.com access > Download pocket queries )

Yes, I know about that. ;-) But loading them directly from the Api into GSAK's database is way smoother (or should I say "smarter"?)

OH!!!!  bloody hell, I totally misread you. I see the GSAK: geocaching access option.....well that is brilliant and works well.
Merci!

The 1.0 in that string indicates that the xml is using the 1.0 XML Specification.  You should be looking at the next line:

<gpx xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
     xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" version="1.0" creator="Groundspeak Pocket Query" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/0 http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/0/gpx.xsd http://www.Groundspeak.com/cache/1/0/1 http://www.Groundspeak.com/cache/1/0/1/cache.xsd"
     xmlns="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/0">

That line indicates that it is using version 1.0 of the GPX schema (specification) and version 1.0.1 of the Groundspeak extensions shown here.
