We were flying home yesterday (domestic flight in Australia) and having our bags scanned. Mine was further scrutinised as usual - they refused to let a TB we had picked up at a pirate event through - it is a little spanner with a CITO tag - because tools aren't allowed! The tag is connected by a crimped steel cable, so I couldn't disconnect it, so had to exit the security area (the 'guard' had to carry the spanner like it was a IED!) and buy a postbag, then post it to myself.....

Seems logical.

We take our TBs with us in checked luggage no matter what they look like, not out of security concerns but my backpack weighs enough without all the stuff we won't need during our flights B)
