Here is some description and statistics of new caches being placed in my "home area" this year as of Mid May.

114 Caches have been placed by 26 different cachers: 70% have been placed by four cachers: 4Swans (45) and Bearded Beast (20) have placed more than half.

If you add the difficulty and terrain together (d+t) the caches range from 2 to 7.5 on a 10 point scale. Dividing the range into Easy (2-4) Medium (4.5-7) and Hard (7.5-10), 95 (83%) are easy, 18 (16%) are medium and 1 (>1%) are hard. Of the medium caches 10 are Puzzles, 3 are multis and 6 are traditional caches; however one can safely assume that most of the difficulty in the Puzzle caches comes from the puzzle, not the placement. The single hard cache (5/2.5) is a Challenge that requires attending 100 social events and is located about 50 feet into the woods off a bike path...

For folks interested in hiking (typically these caches have a terrain rating of 2.5 pr higher), there are only a dozen caches to choose from (6 puzzles, 3 multis and 3 trads. While 87 caches have a terrain rating of 1 or 1.5 (76%), only 3 (>3%) have a rating higher than 2.5 (and all are 3s).
