DRAGN tamers
We are looking for a cacher who lives near Billings and who would be willing and able to check on a virtual cache periodically if any problems should arise. (We want to place a virtual cache at N 45 59.724) The virtual cache that we wanted to post has not been approved because we do not live in Montana, but live in South Dakota. Geocaching administrators have said that they would approve this cache if we could find someone who lives near there and would be willing to check on the cache for us if problems arise. This would be an interesting historical virtual cache at a National Historic Landmark administered by the Bureau of Land Management. Would anyone be able to help us? Thank you. Contact me directly if you don't get any other nibbles. Ron/yumitori --- Remember what the dormouse said... Quote Link to comment
bazzle
It's a virtual... What is there to maintain??? My mind not only wanders... Sometimes it leaves completely... **Namaste** url=http://www.pdxgeocaching.com] [/url] Quote Link to comment
Renegade Knight
In case the virtual changes in some fashion. The person can check on it since the cache owner can't because it's out side their normal range. Quote Link to comment

DRAGN tamers
While this is a virtual cache that we want to place, the Geocaching Administrators seem concerned that something could happen in the area such a sign being taken down, etc. The area we wish to place this virtual at seems very secure. When we were there this last time, we commented on how many cameras were in place to observe visitors and to ensure the safety of the landmark. In fact, there are two cameras positioned directly looking at the virtual coordinate site. The administrators will not approve this very historical virtual cache unless we can get a Montana cacher to agree to visit the site if any problems should occur. Most likely we will know if there is a problem and the cache needs to be looked at as it will be reflected in the logs for the cache. At which time we could get in touch with our MOntana contact and have them run out to the site and take a look for us. So please if there any any Montana cachers willing to serve our our contact please let us know. Thank you. Quote Link to comment

pdxmarathonman
quote: on Mount St. Helens 20 years ago! I hate to nitpick, but 20 years ago the Mountain had been missing it's top for over 3 years so you probably could have put a virtual cache in this general area if they'd let you in the red-zone (can't recall if it was open by then). Gosh I guess I am showing my age Quote Link to comment
