UNESCO category is denied in the past. WHY?

I have searched in the forum but I can't find any discussion about the category UNESCO http://www.Waymarking.com/groups/details.aspx?f=1&guid=4e1cec54-c0a5-4795-9874-4b8b64f1e8ad

It shows open enrollment: ON, and also "Unesco has been denied by the Waymarking community."

Is realy nobody interested in such a very nice category or was there some other reason to decline it?

Check World Heritage Sites.

Okay, to summarize there are currently two active categories that are UNESCO: World Heritage Sites and UNESCO Biosphere Reserves.

 

The Geopark proposal just did not receive any support and moved down the list.

 

That said, at the time the Geopark proposal surfaced I contacted all the officers about including the Geoparks in the Biosphere Category. The officers expressed that this inclusion was a consideration.

 

Time passed with no interest.

 

Hope this clarifies the UNESCO question.
