+explosis Posted May 30, 2002 Posted May 30, 2002 I was wondering how many people would be interested in taking part in a Portland geocaching search event. Here's the idea a few of us were tossing around. The event would be planned by local PDX people who would come up with a list of 40 or so caches in the area that would be marked as official event caches. Anyone not from the area or hasn't found very many caches would be welcome to visit and take part in the event. The list of caches would be provided to participants the morning of the event and everyone would be required to return back at a certain time to tally up points. This is kind of like "The Search" event in Washington only you'll actually be able to log the caches and add them to your count. I was thinking of sometime mid/late July for event on a Saturday or Sunday. If there's enough interest I'll organize things and get people going for this. Choose the poll result below of the 'job' you'd like to take if interested. Quote
+Gloom Posted May 30, 2002 Posted May 30, 2002 but I will be by the time this happens. Since I only have 4 found caches in the PDX area do I qualify to play? -Gloom ---- Duct tape is like the Force. It has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the universe together. Quote

+Bufford Posted May 31, 2002 Posted May 31, 2002 I think it's a great idea as long as you don't mind a bunch of county cachers running around your fair city? Can we still pee behind trees? Quote
+Gloom Posted May 31, 2002 Posted May 31, 2002 ...you can't pee behind trees. In Portland, you just pee on the sidewalk, or where ever the mood hits ya! ---- Duct tape is like the Force. It has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the universe together. Quote

Altered State Posted May 31, 2002 Posted May 31, 2002 While I haven't racked up the cache numbers, count me in for this event! Quote
+missnomer Posted June 1, 2002 Posted June 1, 2002 nomer likes this idea! Only problem is that the month of July is rather hectic, after all, it is the first free month after being released from school! Places to go, people to see and time to get the heck out of Dodge! -missnomer Entropy in Motion Quote

They have sidewalks in Portland? Man I gotta get out more. Sign me up. Us country boys will have quite the adventure. I've already packed my wire cutters and moonshine. I'm ready to cache. +Trafcon Posted June 4, 2002 Posted June 4, 2002 I would love to help but I have a "thing" in Seattle, another "thing" in Connecticut, and the County Fair in July. If it is a weekend I am around, I would be more than glad to help out however you might need it. Sounds like a great idea. The folks from down south might get their eyes opened. Might have to place one a Darcelle's in NW. KTF !!! GBWY !!! Quote
+Ddog-N-Ma Posted June 4, 2002 Posted June 4, 2002 If you are going to go ahead with this, let me know I will help out anyway I can. I do live in Seattle, but if I can get the time off from my unemployment. I would be willing to drive down and help with set up. Ddog-N-Ma Take the road less traveled Quote
