+T0SHEA
We posted in "What Category for this? recently about Search and Rescue Units. So far there does not seem to be a category specifically for them. Lifeboats and Rescue Stations - this is already a category that does not include land-based Search and Rescue stations/units. Since there are other similar categories: why not a new category for (land based) Search and Rescue Stations? Thoughts? Edited August 17, 2016 by BK-Hunters Quote Link to comment
+fi67
Thoughts? Yes I thought about it, with no result. I still try to figure out what you want to waymark here. I guess they simply do not exist in places I know, so I need some assistance. I know two different types of Search and Rescue units. They first type is associated with either firestations or paramedic stations and both of them do have a category. The other type - often in more remote areas - is not really land-based but air based and quite popular here, especially in alpine regions. Their bases are usually (all I know of) in restricted areas of larger airports, completely off limits for Waymarking. We see them fly around, we know where they are based, but no chance to visit or take a picture. So from my personal experience this is not a good category idea, but I don't have a global overview. If there is evidence for better conditions in other parts of the world, I can support it. But I would like to see some examples and some estimates of their prevalence. Quote Link to comment
+Tuena
Australia has a State Emergency Service (SES) in every state. These are volunteer organisations that provide emergency help during disasters such as floods, fires, high winds etc. Wiki has info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_Emergency_Service Geocaching Australia has a Locationless cache called State Emergency Service Centers (sic) where you can see photographs. Located here: http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga6869 You don't need to be a member to have a look. This link details SES locations in NSW by region: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_South_Wales_State_Emergency_Service#Regions_.2F_Units There are quite a few. Some have separate locations, others are co-located. Quote Link to comment
+dreamhummie
Because many of our government cutbacks are also many search and rescue teams off. The Dutch Lifeboats and rescue stations are still difficult today because of the money. Ambulance rescue teams and firefighter rescue teams have shrunk to today. The rule is now in the Netherlands: The Dutch ambulance must be within 15 minutes after the report to the patient. That's not going to work. If I get a heart attack is the nearest 25 minutes. Bye bye. In 2013 I set up the category AED Defibrillators http://www.Waymarking.com/groups/details.aspx?f=1&guid=13f3db51-f86e-4e77-afd7-29e89908700f and discussed in the forum. Many bad comments about it. Maybe I'll start it again if you think it is a good idea. Thereby more and more AED Defibrillators on the facades of houses and there are even signs to point the way to that place . In 2013 I started E-Bike Charging stations and has bad comments too but time has changed and in 2015 it coast me 3 days to get it accept as a category on Waymarking. New Waymarkers new ideas. If you like that idea of AED Defibrillators and wanna be an Officer, the enrollment is open again Grtz John. Quote Link to comment

Search and Rescue/Mountain Rescue. https://www.mountain.rescue.org.uk/who-we-are-and-what-we-do/teams http://www.scottishmountainrescue.org/ Enough groups in the UK, but as they are volunteers, they don't always have their own base, often working out of either Fire or Plice Stations.
